With the Staff or Moderator role in Community Chat, you can:

  • See total members

  • Edit channels

  • Create channels

Pro Tip: Avoid creating too many default channels. Less is more when starting up your community, and if you create too many channels, it will be challenging to achieve a snowball effect or critical mass of conversations.


To add a channel:

  • Next to Channels, there click on the cog icon, which takes you to the channel list

  • On the Channel List page, click “New Channel” in the upper right hand side

    • Enter the channel name

    • Under “Choose Category,” select “Pick This to Create Channel”

    • Check “Automatically Add Users” if you want everyone to join the channel automatically

    • Check “enable threading”

    • Click the “Create Channel” button

Once the channel is created, click on the cog next to the channel name and toggle off “Allow @all and @here mentions” to prevent customers from spamming everyone with push notifications.”

To delete a channel:

  • Click on the cog icon next to the channel, and then click "Delete Channel" at the bottom

  • Enter the name of the channel to confirm deleting it
