Modeling Membership per Court

Edited

If your Club is seeking to understand what target to aim for in terms of selling Memberships while not overselling Memberships, the data shows a Club can sell between 30 - 45 memberships / court. Keep in mind:

  • The high end of this 30 - 45 Members / court range means a significant amount of capacity is committed to Members vs. Non-members

    • This means your Club will likely want to take advantage of more Open Plays (Events) rather than private court Reservations

      • Perhaps the Memberships your Club sells are priced higher and have a perk of free access to Open Play

      • Or perhaps the Memberships your Club sells are priced lower, with a perk of discounted access to Open Play

  • The low end of this 30 - 45 Members / court means you have capacity for both Members and Non-members

    • This means your Club might leverage Open Plays (Events) and has significant courts open for private court Reservations

      • Perhaps your Club is located in an active metropolitan area with Customers who are less likely to commit to a monthly charge

        • Note: this does not apply to all metropolitan areas

By selling Memberships at a rate higher than 45 Members / court, your Club may frustrate Customers, both Members and Non-members, who are all vying for the same court space (your time-bound inventory). If your Club has decided it is okay with overselling Memberships, be prepared to answer questions around why there is never any room. Likely, these questions will come from Customers who do not wait until:

  1. Midnight for the private court Reservation bookings to open up

  2. Noon for the Events to open up for booking
